Parkwood School’s first priority has always been the health, safety, and well-being of the students, families, and staff. Because the information surrounding the spread and impact of the coronavirus is still being evaluated, Parkwood School will NOT have an in-person school for the Spring 2021 school session. We realized this creates a hardship for everyone involved but this is to protect everyone in our community. Please see the Virtual Spring 2021 Program tab for information.
We will reevaluate the situation in June 2021.
Parkwood offers a developmental program of activities and skill-building in accordance with individual readiness and interests for
children 2 1/2 to 6 years of age.
Our only additional program is the Music/Art Play Group, which meets for an additional hour on an elective basis. The Music/Art Play Group does not require regular attendance.
Children are provided with coat hooks and shelves for their belongings. "Show and Tell" areas are provided within the classroom. Snacks of juice and crackers are provided by Parkwood each day. On special occasions (birthdays, etc.) snacks are often provided by parents.
Discipline is imparted through teacher counseling and guidance.
Parkwood School is privately owned and operated. It is not associated with and church or religious organization.
Parkwood School is in session 180 days each school year, beginning the week before Labor Day and ending upon completion of 180 days (usually in mid-June).
Hours are 9 AM to 12 PM, Monday through Friday.
Our holiday and vacation schedule is the same as that of the Fairfax County Public School system.
Closure due to weather is the same as Fairfax County, however, in the event of a delayed opening, Parkwood opens on time.
